Production Finance Controller
Los Angeles, CA
Reporting to: Corporate CFO & EVP, Production
Salary Range: $160,000-$185,000 - Annually
Type/Timing: Contractor ~ 6 months
Lion Forge Entertainment is searching for an exceptional individual to build out and lead production finance. This position is based in our Los Angeles offices, with corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, and will support animation, live action, and distribution matters across film and television content.
Responsibilities:
· Develop & Manage robust Production Finance systems, such as budgeting, cashflow, payroll, purchase order & accounting systems within the framework of LFE's protocols and procedures
· Create a LFE Production Accounting Manual for new productions
· Develop a standard budget COA for both film and television projects
· Create standard Start Paperwork Packet for Animation and Live Action projects
· Collaborate with LFE Production & Finance on budgets, cashflows, and currency management for upcoming Animation and Live Action projects
· Develop and manage LFE FX strategy for foreign projects
· Create and instigate best working practices within functional group
· Coordinate with Accounting on month-end and year-end financial processes in accordance with U.S. & international accounting standards
· Collaborate & Manage development pre-greenlight project's production budgets, cashflows, schedules & finance plans
· Lead production start-up & handover meetings, informing freelance producers & accountants of LFE's guidelines & procedures, and enforce those guidelines & procedures, throughout the life of the production
· Manage contingency, breakage & overage approval processes, review cost reports and escalate issues to production executives where appropriate
· Manage the show production accountants
· Recruit and nurture a pool of freelance Production Accounting talent
· Oversee show investments, tax credits, VAT, and rebates
Requirements:
· Minimum 10 years of production finance experience at a television broadcaster, film studio or independent production company
· Strong understanding of union payroll and agreements (IATSE, SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA)
· Experience with both union & non-union crews
· Proficiency in Smart Accounting, Smart Start, MMB, MS Office (Excel)
· Ability to work in our Santa Monica, CA office full-time
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
· Attention to detail and accuracy
