OVERVIEW
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA), one of Lincoln Center's eleven resident organizations, serves a unique role on the Lincoln Center campus, serving as the landlord of the sprawling 16-acre complex, overseeing day-to-day operations, security and maintenance. This also includes the management of major construction and renovation projects, space rentals, and coordination of outdoor public events.
LCPA is also a leading arts presenter, showcasing a dynamic array of music, dance, and theatre on its stages, curating the American Songbook, Great Performers, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, White Light Festival, and David Rubenstein Atrium series as well as overseeing production for the PBS series, Live From Lincoln Center.
Lastly, Lincoln Center Education (LCE), which is part of the LCPA umbrella, strives to help young people in New York develop skills in problem solving, collaboration, communication, imagination, and creativity through their engagement with the arts. In doing so, LCE works to develop teaching artists and oversees community, family, and school programming across the boroughs of New York City.
LCPA is seeking a Chief People Officer to serve as a strategic thought partner for the executive leadership team, managers and employees, comprised of approximately 500 full-time and 1,200 part-time union-represented and non-union employees. A core focus of the position will be to implement LCPA's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) plan. In addition, the position will be responsible for leading all human resources functions and will be tasked with fostering an innovative workplace environment consistent with LCPA's values and mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
• Act as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team and staff to build an inclusive and productive work environment and help to re-design organizational culture.
• Serve as an internal guide to the executive leadership team, managers and employees on people issues that affect organizational culture, morale, performance, and business relationships.
• Provide expert guidance and leadership in organization-wide diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy; serve as member of the DEI Council.
• Advise and steer all HR functions including human resources policies, benefits, compensation, recruitment and employee relations (union and non-union matters).
• Counsel and guide the organization on employment law matters.
• Develop a clear and creative vision to attract and retain a diverse and effective workforce through innovative recruitment, benefits and wellness strategies.
• Lead the development of staff training programs to promote professional development.
• Serve as a liaison between departments, promoting cross-departmental communication and alignment to foster consistent application of processes and programs.
• Provide coaching at all levels; assess appropriate development solutions and intervention strategies.
REQUIREMENTS
• 10 years of proven human resources experience at a large, complex organization; experience working in the not-for-profit sector or a cultural institution and/or entertainment industry a plus.
• Track record of developing innovative and forward-thinking talent strategies and initiatives, and successfully enhancing a compelling, progressive organizational culture.
• Senior executive who can add perspective and leadership beyond functional responsibility.
• Proven experience with reshaping organizational culture.
• Experience with organizational structure and succession planning.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in union environments preferred.
• Interest in the performing arts.
• Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in a relevant field.
• HR certifications and/or Juris Doctor a plus.
