The Post Production System Administrator II is an integral Engineering team member who will: (i) support IT and Engineering requests from LA facility staff and clients; and (ii) collaborate with colleagues and Light Iron management to maximize the efficiency of post production systems, media pipelines, and operational policies and procedures. Applicants should have a minimum 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.
It is critical that the candidate possess strong technical knowledge of feature and episodic workflows, techniques, and tools and understand the challenges and goals of creative and technical teams alike. The System Administrator is a self-motivated technical subject matter expert with the ability to address issues promptly and communicate them to the larger team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and support a range of hardware and software, including: Quantum StorNext SAN, Arista Network Switches, Palo Alto NGFW, Cisco Meraki wireless controllers, iX System FreeNAS, and Adder/Avocent KVM's
- Utilizing security and administrative best practices, maintain/support computer OS systems, including Linux, MacOSX and Windows Servers
- Maintain/support application systems, including: DaVinci Resolve, Filmlight and Baselight, Colorfront Transkoder and EXD, DVS Clipster, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, WAN transfer applications Aspera Faspex and Signiant Media Shuttle
- Support configuration and calibration of industry standard color reference monitors, DCI compliant projectors and theater audio systems
- Assist with video routing and color grading room setups
- Deliver / manage technical requirements / trouble shooting for post production color grading systems
- Rapid response engineering support for all client facing services
- Occasionally support on-set/near-set dailies deployments
- Research 3rd party products and services to suggest the best tools / capabilities suited for business requirements
- Stay up to date with industry standard tools and practices to maintain cutting edge infrastructure
Skills/Experience Required:
- Experience maintaining post production facilities in a systems administrator and/or engineering capacity, with a background that includes networking and applications
- Strong working knowledge of video and audio file formats and industry standard and studio delivery specifications (particularly UHD and HDR [HDR 10, 10+, and Dolby Vision] workflows)
- Capable of managing several projects at once, both independently and as part of a team; the organization is lean so individual responsibility and accountability is paramount
- A bias for action and ability to deliver mission critical support in a timely manner
- Ability to foster strong working relationships with technical contacts at client facilities and studios
- A strong desire to deliver great looking, technically accurate content to our customers
- Strong writing and verbal skills, particularly in communicating technical processes in a non-technical manner

This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position works standard business hours but may require long hours and some weekend work as needed.
Travel:
Some out-of-state/country and overnight travel may be expected.
