Position Title: Manager, Accounting
Location: Burbank, CA
Reporting To: Chief Accounting Officer
Summary
Legendary is looking for a Manager of Accounting to join the team. This role will work with the company’s finance and accounting team, film production finance, and digital networks division to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP and internal controls.
Responsibilities
• Leading the accounting function for the Legendary film business, LDN, and publishing operations.
• Analyze contracts to ensure that revenue is accurately billed and recognized in accordance with GAAP and applicable co-financing arrangements.
• Understand the difference between GAAP and production accounting and liaise with film production accounting/finance to ensure proper treatment on both sides.
• Review journal entries, cash/treasury activity, and account reconciliations.
• Review consolidation process for current film production entities including foreign currency adjustments, elimination entries, production bill backs, and other top-side adjustments as appropriate.
• Review fixed assets depreciation reconciliation, including additions and disposals, between the general ledger and fixed assets module
• Review prepaid and expense reconciliation to ensure accurate treatment of prepaid expenses in proper periods
• Develop and contribute to new procedures to shorten the close process.
• Contribute to the development of accounting policies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Participate in year-end audits and mid-year reviews, including audit support schedules and related requests.
• Draft GAAP financial statements and review MD&A and parent company reporting package
• Interact with other divisions/departments in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Other duties as required.
Experience & Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, or Finance required.
• Strong understanding of the application of US GAAP, including ASC 926 – Entertainment - Films (content production and distribution accounting).
• Strong understanding of production accounting environment and process.
• 5 years relevant experience (public accounting and/or industry).
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Strong computer skills including intermediate-level experience with Excel.
• Strong organization, time management, and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Willingness to work overtime and on weekends when required.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
