Position Title: Intern, TV Business & Legal Affairs - Fall 2024
Location: Burbank, CA
Reporting to: Director, TV Business & Legal Affairs
Application Window: June 11, 2024 - June 28, 2024
Program Dates: September 16, 2024 - November 27, 2024
Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00
Summary
Legendary is currently seeking an intern to assist the TV Business & Legal Affairs department, while interfacing with a variety of individuals (internally and externally) in the creative development, production, finance, business affairs, and corporate legal areas. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree, have some deal drafting experience, and possess a strong interest in the business and legal side of television and the entertainment industry. During the internship, interns will have face time with supervisors to discuss assignments, get feedback on their work, and ask questions about development and the industry. In addition to working closely with the executives and members of the team, interns will have the opportunity to attend guest speaker sessions, networking events, and screenings. This is a paid in-person internship.
Responsibilities
• Draft correspondence, basic template agreements, and other forms related to TV development and production
• Revise, redline, and proofread agreements
• Extract deal data from contracts for comparison
• Conduct legal research as needed
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
• Attend weekly TV BA/Legal dept meeting to learn, ask questions, and offer ideas & suggestions
Requirements
• Must be in at least the second year of a Juris Doctor (JD) program at an accredited law school taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/summer) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from law school within the past six (6) months
• A GPA of 3.5 or above is highly preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Prior work experience in a position where candidate worked with others on a team and was accountable for delivering results
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
• Strong communication skills and team player mentality
• Some experience drafting and redlining strongly preferred, but not required
• Strong interest in television and the entertainment industry
