Summary
Legendary Entertainment is seeking an experienced and versatile publicity/marketing practitioner to work in-house on behalf of the company’s public relations activities in the areas of film, tv, and comics. The Director will provide support the Vice President and work closely with the overall marketing team in bridging communication between studio and platform partners and Legendary’s film production entities. This position involves management of a wide range marketing activities including trafficking media opportunities, special events logistics, talent relations, coordination with in-house social media and digital marketing teams, and collaboration with the company’s China division at Legendary East.
While film publicity is part of this job, this position will be more heavily focused on Legendary’s TV and comics properties, so a candidate with experience and specific interest in either one or both of these areas is preferred. The position will also at times involve collaboration among business division stakeholders in conjunction with our external corporate communications team. This position is extremely hands on and is a major contributor to overall film, tv, and comics campaigns and branding strategies.
Responsibilities
• Provide general Marketing and Public Relations support to various members of the Marketing team
• Help to manage the execution of publicity campaigns for our entertainment properties, including film, tv and comics
• Manage consumer-focused external public relations teams including our distribution partners, production units, and work alongside corporate communications PR agency on strategy and all day-to-day matters
• Serve as the key liaison between business leaders and external parties to identify and coordinate PR and marketing activities where appropriate
• Talent and press management at premieres, press junkets, trade events and other company events
• Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant consumer media and press alongside existing publicity teams
• Draft and review press releases and internal communications as needed
Experience & Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry with a specific interest in television and comics
• Relationships with consumer press and experience managing events and entertainment themed projects
• Ability to work well with a variety of personalities and work styles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation and facilitation skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality standards
• High comfort level with collaboration, but also has the confidence to run with project independently when called upon to do so
• Experience collaborating with internal and external partners, managing, and partnering with agencies, theatrical studio PR teams and/or TV network teams
• Ideas driven, with proven strategic and project management capabilities working in entertainment, media company, or studio
• Experience working collaboratively with the entertainment media, both domestically and internationally
• Global mindset, prior knowledge of traditional and digital international PR is a plus
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to organizational success
• Strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative team player
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks on various projects concurrently and formulate big picture strategies for tackling projects in the most efficient manner
