Summary
The Director, Business & Legal Affairs, will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements and providing strategic legal and business advice to support the day-to-day operations of Legendary’s licensing & merchandising, comics and marketing teams. Such agreements include consumer products and other IP license agreements, publishing agreements, and vendor agreements. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a knack for handling numerous projects in a highly efficient, cooperative manner.
Responsibilities
• Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including but not limited to: license agreements for consumer products, videogames, location-based entertainment, and publishing; writer and artist agreements for original comics; vendor agreements; contest and sweepstakes rules; and non-disclosure agreements
• Address intellectual property rights and clearance matters
• Collaborate with, provide advice to, and synthesize feedback from production, creative, finance, and business affairs executives
• Liaise with marketing executives regarding legal aspects of campaigns, contests, and privacy policies
• Review and maintain form agreements and standard terms and conditions
• Maintain awareness and understanding of the latest developments in entertainment and intellectual property law
• Other projects as needed
Experience & Skills
• Excellent academic credentials from a top-tier law school
• 5 to 7 years of experience in Business and/or Legal Affairs in entertainment focused on licensing & merchandising and/or publishing
• Member of the California bar in good standing
• Well-organized, with strict attention to detail
• Outstanding analytic, negotiation, and legal drafting skills
• Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal
• Professional individual who can build strong relationships, internally and externally
• Highly responsible, self-motivated, and able to thrive in an energetic, fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
• Law Firm experience a plus

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. Total rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Legendary Entertainment also provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, employee wellness programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, year-round paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, market demands and indicators, specific and unique skills or training, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City and California.
