POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Communications department, the Coordinator, Communications will report to the Digital Media & Communications Manager to help execute communication strategies and programmatic initiatives. S/he will support the communications platforms to drive core messaging, assist with developing content, researching industry trends, and assisting with external public affairs.
The Coordinator, Communications should have core competencies in various aspects of communications and marketing, including but not limited to, content development, writing, strategic messaging, policy advocacy, platform engagement, and strategy.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Communications (60%)
• Create content that highlights organizational impact for the website and digital platforms (i.e. social media, e-newsletter, blogs) along with printed collateral;
• Support in updating digital platforms and maintaining content calendar;
• Assist in developing collateral, media kits and cultivating media relations;
• Perform document review, proofreading and data entry;
• Assist with preparation of presentations and developing content for external marketing events;
• Assist with managing and updating CRM database;
• Responsible for researching media contacts and assisting with pitching to media;
• Assist with development and execution of engagement strategy for key stakeholders across communication platforms.
Talent Solutions (30%)
• Prepare materials and assist with coordinating logistics for events;
• Coordinate the creation of specialized materials and content for programs team;
• Assist in outreach efforts to increase opportunity youth participation for employer-specific trainings;
• Engage community partners through digital platforms, written correspondence, and conference participation;
• Participate and lead training and programmatic activities as necessary.
Administrative (10%)
• Manage schedule of upcoming events, national initiatives, conferences and commemorative days applicable to LeadersUp;
• Responsible for maintaining vendor agreements, record keeping, meeting notes and organizing communication resources;
• Engage in other admin-related activities at the request of the senior leadership team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, and one to three years of applicable experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
• Exceptional social media engagement skills;
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word;
• Proficiency in InDesign and Photoshop;
• Drive to constantly learn and works well with a diverse team;
• Must be able to interact, communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of the organization.
