Additional Information
Kwanzaa Crawl brings people of the African diaspora together to intentionally support Black-owned businesses in their communities. Founded in Brooklyn and now heading into its 10th year, Kwanzaa Crawl has grown into the largest crawl of its kind, blending nightlife experiences, community gathering, and a large-scale pop-up marketplace into a multi-day cultural event.
Since its inaugural year, Kwanzaa Crawl has hosted more than 27,000 crawlers and expanded from 17 Black-owned businesses in Brooklyn to over 70 participating businesses across Brooklyn and Harlem. To date, the event has generated more than $2.5 million in direct economic impact for Black-owned bars, restaurants, and small businesses.
Operating under the seven principles of Kwanzaa, the event is designed to harness Black buying power, establish best practices for supporting the local Black economy, and create joyful, communal experiences that demonstrate the collective power of culture, commerce, and community. Through strategic partnerships with cultural institutions, media platforms, and national brands, Kwanzaa Crawl continues to expand its reach while staying grounded in its mission to uplift and invest in Black-owned businesses.
