We're looking for someone who is more than just an Photographer, but someone who wants to create the future of TV. Do you always shoot for nats, think a 5-part standup is a ''simple standup,'' edit a nat sequence like it was nothing, and pitch great hard news lead stories? We're a station that develops amazing talent, and if you're ready for market 20, we'd like to see your reel! Social media is a requirement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Shoot video and gather news stories, either teamed with a reporter or solo (2-5 stories daily)
• Edit packages and anything else needed for the newscasts
• Maintain assigned video equipment and news vehicles
• Operate live camera from newsroom, studio, or remote locations, including lighting, audio, running cables, etc.
• Additional duties as necessary
Education and Experience:
• A.A. Degree in Television production or Photography Desired
• Minimum 2 years' experience as television news photographer
• Experience operating live microwave van
• Experience operating Satellite truck desired
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of editorial standards.
• Must demonstrate solid news judgment
• Non-linear editing skills. Final cut Pro experience preferred.
• Must be able to work well under deadline pressure
• Willingness to write when needed
• Be able to tell stories with video and sound
• Must be creative with strong editing skills
• Must have attention to detail with great accuracy
• Must have a valid California driver's license
• Valid Passport preferred
• Willingness to work any shift assigned with little to no notice
• Willingness to travel with little to no notice
Working Relationships:
• Must be a team player
• Reports directly to News Operations Manager and takes direction on assignments from News Managers, News Assignment Desk and News Producers.
• Check equipment and notify engineering and the Operations Manager of equipment problems promptly and clearly
• Represent the station to the community in a professional manner
• Contribute story ideas at daily meeting when available
• Relay information from the field back to station promptly and clearly
Supervisory Responsibility;
• None
Training Requirements:
• General ENG safety
• Satellite Truck/ENG Truck safety training
