The Regional Human Resources manager provides operational and consultative human resources support for multiple Nexstar work locations. The HR Manager partners closely with business leaders and the Human Resources leadership team to execute key HR initiatives across performance management, organizational development, employee and labor relations, succession planning, and policy implementation.
This role is well suited for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is skilled at supporting leaders through change. Reporting to the Regional Human Resources Director, the HR Manager will support an employee population of approximately 1,200 union and non-union employees.
Responsibilities
• Partner with HR leadership to support and execute regional people strategies aligned with business objectives across assigned Nexstar work locations.
• Support HR-related planning, coaching, employee development, compliance, and performance management for represented and non-represented workforce.
• Serve as a trusted HR advisor to managers and department leaders, providing guidance on employee relations and performance management.
• Interpret and implement HR policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring consistent application and escalation of complex issues as appropriate.
• Partner with Labor & Employment Counsel and HR leadership to support employee and labor relations matters, including investigations, corrective actions, and grievance processes.
• Support employee learning, development, and engagement initiatives in alignment with company priorities.
• Manage and participate in HR workflows, operational processes, and cross-functional projects.
• Assist with the development and delivery of training plans for leaders and employees.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and escalate risks or concerns as needed.
Job Knowledge & Skills
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent amount of experience required.
• 3+ years of progressive human resources experience, supporting multi-location or complex organizations.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with managers and leaders in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business leaders and HR partners.
• Ability to clearly communicate and reinforce HR and company processes using strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a union environment preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues, summarize findings, and make practical recommendations.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
• Previous experience in the television or entertainment industry is a plus.
