JOB SUMMARY:
The studio technician will work with audio, visual and technical equipment in live-broadcast and recorded situations. The position will be required to set up and operate equipment in the KNPB television studio, and on location, and to participate in local productions by providing production assistance and services for studio and field productions. The Studio Technician will also collaborate with engineering, technical, and creative departments to produce media content.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide production assistance and services for studio and field productions; prepare show format scripts; obtain student crews; configure and test equipment; and develop video graphics.
• Perform preventive maintenance and back-ups on video, audio, and computer equipment.
• Duplicate copyright-cleared media materials, and compile maintenance histories and maintain system documentation.
• Responsible for maintenance of video and computer hardware, and video and audio test equipment used in television production; including audio mixing consoles, non-linear editing systems, video consoles, recording equipment, cameras and video cameras and proficiency with personal computers on both Mac and PC platforms.
• Safely and effectively operate equipment used in television production, presentations, and operations; read, prepare, and understand related documentation including system flow diagrams and equipment specifications.
• Studio lighting set up.

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience performing technical tasks related to video production and video technology including program editing, configuring and testing production equipment, and troubleshooting duties, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the principles and techniques of video and television production, including the application of methods for directing and developing preproduction and postproduction programming content.
• Must have a familiarity with the latest trends in web-based video programs, web sites and internet delivery of video and audio content.
• Must be proficient in the use of video and audio editing software and the use of word processing, email, and electronic publishing software programs.
• Knowledge of integrated hardware and software packages, including special effects devices, editing systems, graphics packages, and character generator programs
• A working knowledge of the technology used for sound and video, including cameras, lighting and microphones as well as audio and video consoles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
• Ability to sit for periods of up to 3.5 hours.
• Ability to lift, carry and push up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend at the waist and have the use of both hands for phone, computer and filing.
• Ability to drive own vehicle, and possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• Possess hearing ability to listen to audio and vision from both eyes for camerawork.
