We are currently looking for an Assistant Editor/Finisher who shares this vision to join our team. As a member of the post-production team at Known, you are tasked with a variety of responsibilities across the two key areas of prep and finish.
This position will be based in our Los Angeles studio.
Who you are
You have experience working in a movie trailer, VFX, or post-facility. You have worked with a wide variety of commercial and entertainment clients in both long and short form content and your technical skills put you in the ''expert'' category. You definitely come to Known readily equipped with a wide set of post-production skills. Everyone you have worked with previously has enjoyed it, as you are a great communicator and team player with a balanced temperament.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
An Assistant editor / Finisher at our company serves in a support role in the editorial process. They do the many tasks associated with setting up the initial edit project such as project creation, ingesting shoot footage, drive management, sync'ng sound and grouping cameras, etc. During the editorial process they log footage, rough out initial cuts, and post files for approval. As a finisher they prepare for color correction and audio mixing, re-link high resolution and color corrected footage, prepare for final delivery and upload and download files through ftp's and client portals. They also are responsible for quality control on client deliveries.
Qualifications
5+ years' experience in post-production
Mac / Windows proficient
Basic knowledge of most software involved in post-production including but not limited to Avid Media Composer, Black Magic Resolve and Adobe Creative Cloud
Knowledge of HD and UHD television formats and workflows.
Knowledge of broadcast compression formats, codecs, LUTs and transcoding.
Knowledge of advanced camera files such as Red, Alexa, Sony, Canon, etc.
Knowledge of current grading and digital intermediary techniques.
Ability to understand television monitoring and signal measurement

Technical Tasks
Transcode file-based raw camera files for ingestion into the edit project
Prep footage for design and graphics
Flatten final sequence for color correction prep
Round trip footage through Black Magic DaVinci Resolve for color correction.
Clean print high resolution footage in final sequences
Cut in final GFX, VFX and audio for review and delivery.
Export AAF files for audio mix
Export final delivery files per client specs
Perform quality control checks on delivery of finished assets conforming to highest industry technical standards
Create multiple versions of assets for delivery per client requests
Create Social versioning and multiple aspect ratio deliveries for Instagram, Facebook, SnapChat, etc…
Embed captioning and prepare other Accessibility files
Prepare textless submasters
Clean up and organize project before archiving
Oversee the delivery/upload of final files through FTPs and client portals
This position reports to the Director of Post-Production and is a member of the editorial staff.
It is a non-exempt, overtime eligible, hourly position.
