The person for this position will be serving as a non-linear video editor operating a computer-based editing system. Edit news stories and special events as assigned by the news department. Produces and assembles the final video cuts with final graphics and special effects before rendering them to the required video format. Our ideal candidate has an excellent eye for visual, compelling storytelling and is passionate about combining strong writing and storytelling with great pictures and sound. This position is both technical and creative in nature.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Edit video for daily news coverage for multiple newscasts, special projects, and sweep period pieces.
Effectively collaborate with anchors, reporters, and producers on video elements of newscasts.
Meet daily deadlines in a high-energy working environment.
Provide effective and skilled operation of computer-based non-linear editing system using a variety of software applications.
Assembles the final cuts of video and audio on the program timeline, ensuring continuity, and then completes projects with final graphics and special effects before rendering them to the required media format.
Complete edits on various projects, including US and International broadcasts, spots, segments, testimonies, internet programming, movies, and features under the direct or indirect supervision of a producer and/or production assistant.
Present creative solutions to conceptual, content-related editing projects.
Stay informed of new techniques and equipment capabilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School graduate with a college degree in Television or equivalent Television Production experience.
Experience:
5+ years of experience editing news in non-linear video or tape editing/operation required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to hand and juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlines.
Working knowledge of current video post-production techniques and technology.
Be familiar with non-linear video and audio editing operations on a shared computer network.
Advanced editing experience.
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Software applications include Final Cut, Motion, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Photoshop.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit at a computer for a minimum of seven hours per day
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment
Requires normal range of hearing and vision
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Primarily but not limited to videotape.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
Maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the edit session, both in video and audio areas
Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans
Must be very organized and require minimum instruction
Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations
Must be detailed, organized, and communicative
Must be task and goal-oriented
Requires the ability to multi-task
Must adapt well to changing work situations
Must be able to grasp and apply new ideas
Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions
Must relate and interact with people at all levels
Must have a good command of the English language and be able to proofread work
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a normal editing suite environment.
Must be willing to work second or third shift, requiring flexibility of work schedule.
May be required to work overtime as needed to meet production goals.
Other:
Born again believer and must adhere to this organization's doctrines as upheld by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their appointed representatives.
Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties, and divisions.
Must maintain a good attendance record.
Membership and attendance at EMIC are preferred.
Because of the wide range of personal contact with ministry leaders within and outside the organization, this position requires considerable diplomacy, maturity, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to work with people of all cultures
