Public Media Group of Southern California (KCET, PBS SoCal and LINK TV) tell stories that matter through original programs that reflect the diversity of the region, and the full schedule of trusted PBS programs. Our content channels – KCET and PBS SoCal – are available for free on internet – connected screens and seven local broadcast channels. LINK TV can be accessed through national satellite channels.

Job Overview
The Enviornmental Producer will support a wide variety of productions and products, from long form documentaries, to recurring franchises, digital shorts, and breaking news centered on the environment. Successful applicants will demonstrate expertise in the news & documentary field with a focus on the environment.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Work alongside the Chief Content Officer on all aspects of environmental related creative development and production
• Oversee development and current production of multiple environmental news/doc series
• Interface with production leadership team on production issues
• Partner with internal departments on launches, press, marketing, and general programming needs
• Spearhead problem solving and crisis management resolution with outside producers on production and programming issues
• Work with creators, external partners, and collaborators to develop new ideas and networks
• Generate new ideas/concepts and field pitches from inside and outside producers, partners, independent news outlets, and production companies
• Prepare internal documents (as needed) in preparation for greenlight.
• Work with marketing and publicity teams to facilitate creative asset creation and to give input (when needed) on marketing materials, press releases, festival strategy, etc.
• Develop, write, and produce sizzles and decks including: managing editors and graphic designers
• Produce and oversee content for broadcast and other platforms
• Collaborate with the station’s media production and digital production team
• Manage production team training and scheduling and assist producers, associate producers, and crews with content production
• Collaborate with other departments on public affairs and audience engagement strategies
• Coordinate and plan both short-term and long-term coverage of news events and stories
• Build partnerships with other non-profit news outlets and academic institutions
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in documentary/news production and programming with a focus on the environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of the documentary /news development and production processes
• An established credibility and strong base of existing relationships across the news/documentary community
• Demonstrated creative and development skills
• Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management
• Ability to multitask and manage complex projects
• A self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach; assertive, enthusiastic and highly motivated
• Demonstrated knowledge of the documentary /news development and production processes
• An established credibility and strong base of existing relationships across the news/documentary community
• Demonstrated creative and development skills
• Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management
• Ability to multitask and manage complex projects
