Job Overview
The Education Department at PBS SoCal seeks an intern to join our Early Learning Team. This role will support the organization’s programming and initiatives for families and children ages 2-8, with a specific focus on developing digital resources, including but not limited to social, website, YouTube and app content. This internship will primarily be remote, though travel to our Burbank and/or Costa Mesa offices, as well as community partner sites in Los Angeles and Orange County should be expected.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of PBS SoCal's family and children's programming initiatives and content strategy
• Analyze internal curricula and educational frameworks to ensure alignment with production objectives
• Contribute creative concepts for digital content development and provide constructive feedback on projects in various stages of production
• Support all phases of digital content creation, including pre-production planning, on-set assistance, and post-production tasks
• Collect, organize, and interpret performance metrics across digital platforms to inform content strategy decisions
• Facilitate engaging interactions between families, children, and PBS SoCal's educational media through program activities
• Participate in strategic team meetings and collaborative planning sessions as schedule permits
• Execute additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the department leadership
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience interacting with children and/or families in educational or community settings
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and take initiative with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated adaptability and enthusiasm for embracing new projects, technologies, and creative challenges
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, including the ability to create content in both languages (preferred)
• Foundational knowledge of early childhood development principles and age-appropriate learning strategies(preferred)
Requirements:
• At least 18 years of age
• Available for a minimum of 20 hours per week with occasional nights/weekends event support
• Reliable transportation access for travel to outreach and in-person meetings and events
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools,
or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The
employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
The working conditions are primarily in a general office or home setting. However, the position will require regular off-site travel to team meetings and community partner locations as necessary. Depending on the position, job duties, and subject to the discretion of the company, the position may be telecommuting eligible in whole or part (Please see the telecommuting policy and telecommuting agreement for additional information concerning telecommuting terms and work environment.)
