Job Overview
The multimedia producer will be responsible for the development and production of multimedia and digital video content for PBS SoCal and KCET websites, YouTube channels, and social media platforms. Digital video production includes writing, casting, shooting, and editing—or delegating tasks as needed. Multimedia includes acquiring data sources, designing infographics, creating motion graphics, and producing interactive projects. The position will develop and produce original digital video content and multimedia under the News Environment and Arts Culture verticals.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with digital producers to develop and produce video and multimedia content and projects
• Collaborate with digital producers to produce multimedia that supports original editorial
• Design and manage production schedules, timelines, and deliverables while maintaining project deadlines
• Research and develop content ideas, pitch ideas to senior staff for YouTube and social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok)
• Develop and write treatments, decks, and scripts
• Create and/or coordinate graphics and motion graphics
• Help develop and create new video and content formats (AR, VR, 360 Video, podcasts)
• Review and refine best practices for YouTube
• Work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree (an emphasis in Journalism, TV/Film, Mass Communication, or related area preferred)
• 2-3 years of experience working as an editor, multimedia or digital producer
• Proficient with multimedia tools and practices
• Proficient in media production for online platforms including short-form video content, social media videos, and articles
• Must have photo editing skills with the ability to manipulate, crop, enhance images as needed
• Knowledge and experience with still-image photography using digital cameras/handheld video cameras
• Proficient with photo and video editing software, especially Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop
• Proficient with content management systems (Drupal and Wordpress), social media platforms, and Google Analytics
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task with accuracy and to meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be a self-starter, proactive, highly motivated and goal-oriented
