ABOUT PUBLIC MEDIA GROUP OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (PMGSC)
Public Media Group of Southern California (KCET, PBS SoCal and LINK TV) tell stories that matter through original programs that reflect the diversity of the region, and the full schedule of trusted PBS programs. Our content channels –KCET and PBS SoCal– are available for free on internet-connected screens and seven local broadcast channels. LINK TV can be accessed through national satellite channels.
A donor-supported community institution, PMGSC sparks the sharing of ideas at in-person cultural events and community conversations and delivers social impact through services that prepare our most vulnerable children for school.
JOB OVERVIEW
This full-time, non-exempt position reports to and supports the Impact and Partnerships Manager, and is responsible for executing on a range of local and national projects that aim to deepen the impact of our content and elevate the voices of our Southern California community. This position will assist and lead various projects within the organization’s diverse portfolio of community-centered impact activities and will help maintain a robust catalog of community partnerships. The ideal candidate would have a curiosity about the history and culture of Southern California, as well as experience working with a diverse range of community members.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Coordinate logistics related to various impact activities in support of PMGSC’s content and services as assigned (e.g., management of activity details including logistics, promotion, attendee management, partner organizations, venues, etc.)
• Design and produce interactive experiences and professional development opportunities for youth audiences, such as local work in support of PBS NewsHour’s Student Reporting Labs Initiative and our intern cohort program
• Organize, manage, and coordinate impact-related work with internal personnel
• Contribute to the development and implementation of department strategy
• Monitor budgets for impact projects
• Assist with the maintenance of 50 existing community partnerships (such as community-based organizations, PBS licensees, schools, libraries, cultural institutions, and colleges) that serve as pipelines for the station’s impact efforts.
• Support the Impact and Partnerships Manager and Senior Director in the research and identification of new potential partnerships with external organizations
• Respond to inquiries, conduct daily business, and represent the station with a highly professional and personable demeanor at all times
• Support administrative functions, as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• 2-3 years relevant work experience or bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; skills in database programs a plus
• Self-starter able to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues
• Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects and meet deadlines
• Have reliable transportation and ability to transport event materials as needed
• Schedule flexibility to attend in-person meetings and events throughout Southern California, including on nights and weekends
• An interest in Southern California’s history, culture, and communities
• Valid CA Driver’s License
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Impact and Partnership Coordinator will move and navigate various physical environments such as office buildings, school sites, movie theaters, and outdoor recreational spaces. The Impact and Partnership Coordinator will also communicate verbally and in writing with stakeholders. Additionally, the Impact and Partnership Coordinator will regularly set up tables, booths, and pop-up tents at events, distribute materials, and regularly lift or carry items up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
The work environment will consist of indoor and outdoor workspaces with the possibility of telecommuting.
