Job Overview
The Early Learning Associate will assist the Early Learning Team in all aspects of community engagement from coordination of outreach events, preparation of family engagement workshops, and tracking of educational materials. The ideal candidate has the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with rigorous attention to detail and organization. The Early Learning Associate will work out of the station’s Costa Mesa office; however, this position requires driving throughout different community partner sites in Orange County and between Costa Mesa and Los Angeles offices.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative and operational support for PBS SoCal | KCET’s education initiatives.
• Assist with coordination of virtual and in-person outreach events in the community, including preparation of materials, booth set up, costume requests, and managing event staffing.
• Manage and organize inventory of educational materials, including purchasing new materials, documenting invoices, and keeping track of stock levels.
• Assist the Early Learning team with preparation of workshop materials and distribution/delivery of workshop materials to community partners and workshop families.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Serve as the main lead at community family engagement events.
• Support the Early Learning team during workshops and engagement events, including managing Zoom platform, maintaining attendance reports, and other support as needed.
• Track education inbox and respond to email inquiries from the public.
• Represent the station at events and workshops with a highly professional and personable demeanor at all times.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Ability to accomplish multiple tasks, prioritize work, and be comfortable with a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong organization skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to proactively address potential issues.
• Strong understanding of the early childhood community and a sensitivity to the diverse needs of under resourced communities.
• Innovative thinker and problem-solver who functions with creativity and initiative.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Zoom, Slack.
• Ability to interface with staff effectively and positively.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends, on occasion
• Valid CA Driver’s License and dependable vehicle to travel to outreach events
Education
and Work Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in education/event coordination (preferred)
• A combination of education and work experience will be considered
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Early Learning Associate is regularly required to sit or stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also regularly required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
