Title: MANAGER COMMUNICATIONS

Reports To: VICE PRESIDENT, COMMUNICATIONS
Classification: EXEMPT FULL-TIME POSITION
JOB SUMMARY
Supports the VP, Communications in a fast-paced and growing enterprise. Assists the VP in devising and implementing internal and external communications strategies for the KCETLink Media Group and its numerous franchises: two television channels, websites, and various digital initiatives among them. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with the organization's various departments to help craft messages and communications. A special focus will be on developing and maintaining executive profiles to support them at events and for press interviews.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Works with the VP Communications on all matters pertaining to strategy and execution of KCETLink's many platforms to advance the mission and goals:
o Helps to develop and implement tactics to support the strategy
o This includes online, digital marketing
• Creates, updates and manages on an ongoing basis executive profiles and accompanying materials, including the content on KCETLink's EPK.
• Develops, manages and executes KCETLink's news releases
• Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with key reporters
o Develops compelling pitches that results in placements
• Oversees and manages vendors for all marketing and sales collateral (photographers, printers, mail houses, graphic designers)
• Assists with fundraisers and special events
• Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS (OVERALL)
• Superior oral, written and inter-personal communications skills
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms
• Knowledge of content management systems
• Some knowledge of desktop publishing/design/production skills
• Ability to work under deadline pressure and interact well with staff
• A results-oriented work orientation and self-motivation extremely important.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (SPECIFIC)
• Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of communications experiences and disciplines that include internal communications, corporate communications, public relations, crisis communications and digital marketing.
• Proven ability to multi-task with accuracy
• Five to eight years in communications, public relations and/or a related field
• A bachelor's degree required; a BA in journalism or communications (preferred)
