Kansas City Royals Trainee Program
The Kansas City Royals Trainee Program is designed for applicants interested in the sports and entertainment industry, particularly professional sports. The Royals are seeking applicants with various backgrounds, educations, and experiences to create a valuable community of learning opportunities from front office staff as well as from one another. The Trainee Program intends to cultivate a network of young professionals dedicated to developing their career and supporting the careers of those around them.
*The Trainee positions take place only within the 2021 season, and there should not be an expectation of full-time employment upon its conclusion.
Job Summary: To provide a student or recent student with the opportunity to learn about the sports industry at the Major League Baseball level. Candidate will gain valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of Royals Authentics. This position's strongest emphasis is in retail operations.
Accountabilities:
• Assist with in-store operations on all game days including merchandising, customer service, pricing, and day-to-day maintenance
• Aid e-commerce sales including fulfillment, processing, and managing orders through emails, auctions, and the online store
• Successfully convey the details of the Major League Baseball Authentication program to guests
• Create and monitor social media content for Royals Authentics Twitters and Instagram accounts
• Import inventory from Spring Training Signing and other clubhouse items throughout the season
• Track baseball statistics to enhance product descriptions and to complete game notes
• Coordinate and execute sales plan for Kansas City Monarchs gear to raise money for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
• Provide support to the department by maintaining consistency and operation under the store's standards
• Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
• College student or recent graduate with a degree in related coursework or equivalent experience
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and handle multiple projects
• Possess a professional and positive attitude
• Strong time management, organizational, and customer service skills
• Detail oriented and able to work in high-pressure environment
• Proven experience in a team environment
• Effective writing, telephone, and verbal communication skills
• Available to start January 3rd, 20020 and work through the end of the baseball season
• Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in Adobe Photoshop
• Baseball knowledge
