Full Time Paid Internship
Kansas City Royals Trainee Program
The Kansas City Royals Trainee Program is designed for applicants interested in the sports and entertainment industry, particularly professional sports. The Royals are seeking applicants with various backgrounds, educations, and experiences to create a valuable community of learning opportunities from front office staff as well as from one another. The Trainee Program intends to cultivate a network of young professionals dedicated to developing their career and supporting the careers of those around them.
*The Trainee positions take place only within the 2021 season, and there should not be an expectation of full-time employment upon its conclusion.
Job Summary: Position is responsible for administrative and programming support functions of the Community Impact Department. Trainees will assist with the planning and execution of community engagement programs, major fundraising events, and other departmental efforts.
Accountabilities:
• Assist in execution of Royals Community Relations initiatives and events, including educational and youth baseball/softball programs
• Assist with promotional planning and content creation of department efforts through social media and traditional media platforms
• Oversee the Royals Green Team on select game dates
• Maintain the following long-term programs: Royals Charities License Plates and Gameday Greetings
• Support the promotion and execution of the Royals Charities 50/50 Raffle
• Assist in organizing game day experiences for Royals community guests
• Assist as needed with Royals Charities events including Diamond of Dreams, Royals Run, Celebrity Golf Tournament, and Broadcast Auction
• Provide stewardship support to Royals Charities donors including production of thank you letters and correspondence
• Support the Royals Charities Grants process through the tracking of grants and correspondence with grant recipients
• Maintain volunteer database and coordinate event volunteers
• Maintain inventory and organization of all memorabilia
• Compose, edit, copy, and mail departmental correspondence and fan feedback
• Interact professionally with the general public, associates, community partners, and fans via telephone, email, fan mail, and in-person
• Provide overall support to Community Impact Department
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Possessing a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
• Effective writing, telephone, and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management, organizational, and guest relations skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Enthusiastic team player who strengthens the overall dynamic of the department
• Creative thinker who anticipates challenges and takes initiative toward solutions
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and handle multiple projects
• Detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
• Fluency in both English and Spanish strongly preferred
• Volunteer experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of baseball helpful
• Prior non-profit or event planning experience helpful
• Experience with CRM preferred, but not required
• Professional Social Media experience preferred
• Photoshop experience preferred
