Job Title: Coordinator- Media Relations
Job Summary: The Coordinator – Media Relations is responsible for preparation of various publications, press releases, and general functions of the department. Duties include Kansas City Royals and Major League Baseball policies and procedures.
Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Oversee media credentialing system, which includes managing daily media credentials via Major League Baseball's credential site and being the main contact for media credentials
• Serve as a department liaison with the local media regarding credential, comp tickets, or any other request they may have
• Coordinate press box operations to ensure seats, seating charts, and gameday materials are in place before media arrives
• Assist in training and managing seasonal interns
• Write, research, and edit daily publications, such as the game notes
• Write, research, and edit annual publications, such as the media guide, yearbook and season summary
• Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
• College degree or equivalent experience in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field
• Experience with TruMedia, Baseball Reference's Stathead and/or MLB Stats Platform is preferred
• Must be proficient in Microsoft computer applications, including Excel spreadsheets and Adobe InDesign
• Must have knowledge of the game of baseball, including expansive statistical understanding and the ability to translate that into game note form
• Excellent writing and editing skills are a must
• Working knowledge of baseball statistics
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Available to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds
• Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
• Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling
