Manager – Visiting Clubhouse
The Manager – Visiting Clubhouse has the duty and responsibility to adhere to strict confidentiality with regards to the operations in and around the Major League Team while remaining compliant with all MLB rules and regulations, including but not limited to, social media and the disclosure of information relating to the use, possession or distribution of prohibited substances, and also to communicate openly to the Vice President, Major League Team Operations, the hard and essential facts related to all aspects of the Travel & Clubhouse Operations Department.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• To provide leadership, direction, and support for all operational needs within the Royals Visiting Clubhouse Operations. Primary attention is to be given to all aspects of the Visiting Clubhouse.
• To help oversee the entire Visiting Clubhouse staff while assisting in the creation, implementation and supervision of a Clubhouse culture centered around: Leadership, character, loyalty, honesty, respect, hard work and attention to detail
• To oversee and vet the hiring of visiting clubhouse staff and ensure that the hiring practice follows Organizational policies, equal opportunities, values and characteristics
• To evaluate performances of visiting clubhouse staff and advise on all areas of improvement/concern surrounding Visiting Clubhouse Operations and growth
• To assist the Vice President, Major League Team Operations in many aspects concerning spring training planning and logistics, ordering equipment and clubhouse improvements.
• To Assist the Vice President, Major League Team Operations in facility improvements, upgrade enhancements & planning as it relates to the Royals Visiting Clubhouse.
• To assist the Senior Advisor, Clubhouse Operations with the movement of all clubhouse items and equipment between Kansas City and Surprise, Arizona to and from Spring Training
• To oversee the daily operations of the Visiting Clubhouse during Spring Training and In-Season
• To assist the Senior Advisor, Clubhouse Operations in coordinating all culinary and catering needs during Spring Training.
• To collaborate and coordinate all culinary needs during the regular season with the Vice President, Major League Team Operations and the Manager, Culinary Services.
• To lead all coordination and collaboration in setting up as needed services to the visiting Major League Teams at Kauffman Stadium including but not limited to: Culinary, Laundry, & Concierge type services.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree preferred, specialty in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Facility Management or Business Mgmt. highly desired.
• At least 5 Years of Experience working in a Major League Clubhouse.
• Must be able to finish tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Must be able to operate successfully in a fast-paced professional sports environment
• Candidates must be able to interact professionally with Front Office Members, Players, Coaches, and Umpires
• Must be willing and able to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a positive attitude while working under pressure in high-demand situations
• Consistent, punctual, and regular attendance
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
Travel Expectations:
• Spring Training
• Major League Road Trips, as assigned
• Winter Meetings, as needed
• Other Travel, as needed
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 30-40 pounds
• Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
• Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling
