Job Summary:
The Kansas City Royals seek a Director of Entertainment who will lead a team dedicated to producing the most engaging and exciting game presentation in baseball. As part of Pine Tar Collective, this role will be responsible for the vision, implementation, and execution of the Kauffman Stadium experience. This includes an authentic creative vision for video content, project planning, ability to lead in high pressure situations, work with creative counterparts and strong attention to detail.
Accountabilities:
• Responsible for the creative vision of all entertainment elements as part of the Game Day experience at Kauffman Stadium
• Serve as Executive Producer of game presentation, overseeing Game Entertainment department, day of game crew and brand strategy integration into the game presentation
• Oversee Entertainment Coordinator, Mascot Coordinator and support for other entertainment staff including PA Announcer, In-Park Hosts, Ballpark DJ, KCrew, in-park contests, pregame ceremonies and entertainment, special event ceremonies and special effects: lighting, fireworks, music
• Collaborate with content team on developing in game video elements, including player hype videos, branded entertainment videos, fan engagement ideas and open videos
• Research trends in the sports and live entertainment industry to stay at the forefront of innovation of live sports game presentation including the latest in pop culture
• Oversee corporate partnership inventory within game presentation
• Liaison with MLB on the implementation of league directives regarding inning breaks, game management and marketing initiatives
• Develop and manage an annual operating budget which includes capital requests
• Entertainment programming for special events & activations
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university
• A minimum 5 years' experience and a proven track record within entertainment programming with a focus on live events and sports entertainment
• A minimum of 4 years of managerial/supervisory experience
• A proven track record of developing and implementing innovative strategies as the Game Director
• Exceptional leadership, demonstrated by creative and strategic thinking, superior problem-solving and excellent communication skills
• Professional knowledge of creative entertainment, game operations, event logistics and technical operations
• Experience working collaboratively with creative teams and other departments
• Available to work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends and evenings
