Job Title: Trainee- Baseball Operations
Job Summary: This position offers hands-on experience within Player Acquisitions, Baseball Administration & Strategy, while contributing to projects that impact the entire organization. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and eager to learn. You'll take part in day-to-day operations, assist with department-wide initiatives, and gain exposure to decision-making processes that shape the Royals' on-field success.
Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Support the daily operations of the Baseball Operations department, including administrative tasks, strategic planning, logistics coordination, and research initiatives.
• Prepare and manage key information, reports, and player research to inform front office decisions and operational strategies.
• Identify and implement creative solutions to enhance internal processes and contribute innovative ideas for future team projects.
• Assist with the management and operation of video, data, and technology systems that support player evaluation and development.
• Provide strategic and logistical support during critical baseball operations periods such as the MLB Draft, Trade Deadline, free agency, and salary arbitration.
• Build a strong foundation in baseball operations through hands-on work, focused learning, and direct mentorship from experienced professionals.
Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
• Bachelors degree is preferred but not required
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to multitask in stressful situations.
• Experience with SQL, R, Python is a plus, but not required.
• Prior baseball or sport experience is not required.
• Strong communication and computer skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish – preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 45 pounds
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling
