Job Title: Assistant Director – Player Development
Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals Baseball Club is seeking a highly motivated professional who will operate as the Assistant Director of Player Development based out of the Kansas City Royals Performance and Development Center in Surprise, Arizona. The applicant must have 5 years working in professional sport or collegiate athletics. The ideal applicant will have exceptional organizational/planning skills, baseball acumen, interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity, and working knowledge and experience coordinating/managing/merging multiple departments into the overall mission of a baseball operations department. In addition, the candidate should have sport operations experience and a conceptual understanding/framework of integrating multiple departments into the success of elite baseball players. The applicant must be a team player and willing to adapt to a fast-paced work environment where no day is the same.
Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Assisting with facilitation and planning of Minor League Spring training, Camps, and Instructional League.
• Assisting with hiring of player development personnel
• Maintaining and developing performance reviews for player development staff
• Assisting with the management and oversight of video department (i.e., video trainees, coordinators)
• Assisting with oversight of in-season and offseason programming for player development initiatives
• Assisting with the coordination of integrating multiple departments (Video, Operations, Player Engagement, Strength and Conditioning, Performance Science, Nutrition, Behavioral Science etc.) into player development outcomes
• Assisting Director of Player Development with day-to-day operational responsibilities
• Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree
• 5 Years of professional sport and/or collegiate athletics experience
• 1-3 years of leadership experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact and work with staff at all levels with a variety of backgrounds and experiences
• Excellent organizational/planning skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and above average oral and written skills
• Frequent travel
• Able to travel and work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required
• Ability to understand and work with diverse communities and populations
• Ability to develop working knowledge of Major League Baseball (MLB) rules and regulations
• High energy, team player, ability to act independently, and exercise sound judgment
• Willingness to relocate to Surprise (Greater Phoenix area), AZ
Preferred Qualifications • Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Experience playing baseball or softball at a high level (i.e., Collegiate or professionally).
• Collegiate/Professional Baseball Scouting Experience
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 35 pounds
• Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
• Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

This role is a Full-Time, Exempt opportunity that is eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. This role is expected to have a standard 40-hour work week.
