Production Assistant - Documentary Films

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Cultural Media Collaborative, an award-winning Manhattan based production company known for documentaries and performance films on classical music and other cultural topics, is looking to hire a free lance production assistant for part-time work.

Responsibilities:
• Provide assistance as required during film shoots, including assisting with camera, lighting, and sound equipment set up
• Create transcripts from filmed interviews
• Shop for set materials
• Scheduling, logistical and administrative duties

Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience of video and digital cinema production techniques to, among other things, assist director of photography with camera and lighting set up
• Audio recording skills including operation of boom and lapel microphones and portable audio mixer
• Experience with multiple-camera studio and location production
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Apple Final Cut Pro
• Licensed driver with clean driving record
• Valid U.S. Passport
• B.A. degree or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with classical music a plus

This position is for a thoughtful, academically-trained, independent contractor with a flexible schedule. Rock-solid reliability and integrity with a commitment to excellence is required. Many of our productions are filmed in Europe so this job may include travel.
