This is a Full Time Unpaid Internship
Smithsonian Channel is seeking an intern for their Digital Media Department. The intern will be required to work a minimum of 12-15 hours per week, with some flexibility in setting up a regular schedule. Please note that all interns must be juniors or seniors in college. The internship must be taken for credit.
Smithsonian Channel, Digital Media Department: The intern will be responsible for developing post, strategies, and analyzes to support social media presence on Twitter and Facebook. They will assist in the day-to-day tasks of editorial, marketing and promotional scheduling and maintenance of the online presence through: assisting in QA, offering input and feedback during brainstorm cycles, and attending planning and production meetings as a member of our team.
Intern projects:
-Daily social media activities on Facebook and Twitter.
-Social media analysis through HootSuite and other tools.
-Brainstorming and implementing social media based and other digital marketing stunts.
-Supporting distribution and promotion of video for premiering shows.
Required Skills/Experience
• Current college student (rising junior or above)
• 2.50 GPA or above
• Able to obtain college academic credit
• Strong Interest in the Cable/Entertainment Industry
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work and prioritize work assignments
• Able to provide administrative support as needed
Preferred Skills/Experience
• Cable television experience, a plus
• Active participation in extracurricular activities, clubs and/or associations in leadership positions – while maintaining a high GPA.
• Prior internship experience in a related field
