Team player who possesses strong analytical skills (experience in media research is a bonus) and a passion for pop culture, television and film. Confident self-starter who relishes the opportunity to drive and develop a theatrical information repository to support the programming strategy for TBS, TNT, truTV, TCM and Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. The ideal candidate is confident enough to pickup the phone and call key sources cold, establish a rapport and mutually beneficial relationship, in order to secure key competitive information. A go-getter, someone who understands that accuracy is mandatory and is comfortable with being uncomfortable in an ever-changing media environment. Ability to handle many projects simultaneously -- highly organized and works well under time constraints meeting daily and weekly deadlines. Individual should be flexible, dependable and punctual. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully (written & oral) with all levels of personnel. Ability to be a strategic partner to internal and external clients. Willingness to work entertainment hours/long hours as needed.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
A four-year degree is required - degree in film, journalism, or communications preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of entertainment industry experience with at least two years in film programming, research, distribution or development
Strong knowledge of film, television, and social media as it relates to entertainment content
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Expert-level skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are needed - Access knowledge helpful, but not required
A solid understanding of digital content distribution models
Knowledge of the Scarlett application is a plus
Duties: Support the program acquisitions group for TBS, TNT, TCM, truTV, Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: tracking dynamic marketplace information and available product from distributors and competitors, organizing incoming submissions, and creating a wide variety of reports to provide deal negotiators with an arsenal of information, allowing them to secure the best product at the right prices.
Develop monthly and quarterly reports that provide key insights into competitive acquisition practices on television series and feature films, including the analysis of trends in purchasing for on-air exhibitions and exposure in other forms of media (e.g. Facebook, SVOD, etc.)
Manage day-to-day relationships with distributor counterparts in order to support the goals and strategies of the acquisitions department
Keep track of larger negotiations in process, creating and updating excel spreadsheets and documents for daily changes in terms/counter offers
Prepare reports and decks as needed, utilizing methodology and design, for both internal and external audiences
Support internal buyers by providing administrative or research support during deal negotiations
Build and maintain a database as a repository for competitive information that can also generate reports for use in meeting department s strategic goals
Sales Research / Buying Research Compilation - utilize in-house research tools to create compelling sales stories (e.g. Nielsen IAC insite, Hoovers, MRI, Monitor Plus)
Assist in resolution of contract discrepancies relating to theatrically licensed content
Support departmental initiatives and undertake special projects and other duties as assigned
