SEEKING: PROJECT MANAGER for our DEFIANCE, game
DEFIANCE™ is the first multi-platform shooter MMO, that in a ground-breaking entertainment experience, interconnects with a global television program on Syfy. The game combines the intense action of a console third-person shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, story, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic.
Being developed for the PC, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, DEFIANCE unites the MMORPG and Shooter game genres across the most popular platforms.
The Defiance™ Project Manager is responsible for managing schedules and tracking the progress for multiple projects within the development studio organization to ensure project objectives are clearly articulated and attainable. The position has a keen focus on triangulating the needs of a high profile, multiplatform AAA game launch. Additionally, the Defiance Project Manager will help manage deliverable dates, interaction, asset sharing, etc. between the game and its counterparts for the television show at Syfy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all phases of multiple, concurrent projects as part of a program
Work closely with all stakeholders to facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables
Manage cross-department communications and expectations
Establish and maintain project schedule
Audit and track progress toward meeting project goals
Ensure all project documentation for the area of responsibility is accurate and complete
Collaborate with key stakeholders and department leadership to define project objectives, gather requirements, manage the
project's cost-time-scope constraints, identify scope of work, determine dependencies, and define deliverables and delivery dates
Participate in determination of project priorities for the publishing department's sales, marketing, community, public relations, and digital divisions
Play a key role in calculating estimates for resources, costs, and participants needed to achieve project goals
Submit budget proposals and staffing recommendations
Proactively conduct risk assessment analysis and contingency planning on an on-going basis
Prepare progress reports on a regular and as-needed basis
Employ standard project management tools and processes including work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, and earned value management, applying adaptive-development models as appropriate
Drive team towards achievement of objectives and contribute to cross-organization initiatives
Support an open atmosphere and a high level of interaction with all team members to ensure quality progress of timeline
attainment, effective recruiting, appropriate coaching and management of team, redirecting when necessary
Work closely with external partners to ensure on-time and on-budget deliverables and milestones
Support a positive studio culture for team members' quality of life
REQUIREMENTS
At least 10 years of experience managing multiple, concurrent game industry projects
Proven track record through several project cycles; previous experience managing game publishing projects desired
Requires experience managing web-based product creation projects
Must be able to identify risks and take appropriate resolution steps, including changes in work methods, technologies, strategies, and project schedules
Awareness of the video game industry's competitive landscape, industry trends, and all aspects of product development, especially
as they relate to the managed product
Can manage others through the use of best practices and project management methodologies
Computer skills must include Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, and MS Project
