SEEKING: CONTENT DESIGNER for our DEFIANCE, game

DEFIANCE™ is the first multi-platform shooter MMO, that in a ground-breaking entertainment experience, interconnects with a global television program on Syfy. The game combines the intense action of a console third-person shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, story, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic.

Being developed for the PC, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, DEFIANCE unites the MMORPG and Shooter game genres across the most popular platforms.

Trion Worlds San Diego is looking for a motivated and creative Content Designer with passionate drive to help us create a unique online world for Defiance™, our multi-platform shooter MMO being developed in collaboration with Syfy. Duties include the creative design and technical implementation of missions and events. The ideal applicant is a creative storyteller and critical thinker with proven experience in game design, outstanding people skills, and a passion for gaming.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in the planning and execution of memorable, cutting-edge missions and enemy encounters, performing key tasks
including writing dialogue, spawning, and scripting

Write and maintain clean, professional, and maintainable documentation

Collaborate with other designers, artists, and animators to execute highly memorable in-game events

Collaborate with design teams to provide innovative solutions to design challenges

Play and provide feedback on all mission elements in the game

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of two years of experience in a design role

Excellent storytelling skills

Experience with game engines and databases

Strong understanding of AI design

Strong ability to design and balance fun encounters

Strong decision-making and organizational skills

Ability to learn and use proprietary editor and tools to make missions in game

Exemplary verbal and written communication skills with the ability to creatively collaborate with others

PLUSES

Experience working on action console games (PS3 and Xbox 360 shooters preferred)

Passionate gamer with a deep knowledge of MMOs, RPGs, and action shooters

Love of pen and paper RPGs, board games, Syfy channel, and comic books
