Jonny Stax Presents, Inc. announces internship opportunities for the 2012 Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Interns will be supported to receive school credit or receive a small monthly stipend to offset the cost of participating in the internship. Interns will be provided a pro-active learning environment, substantial resume-building responsibilities, and networking opportunities in the Chicago arts and entertainment industries.

It is the company’s mission to provide deliberately liberating experiences for artists and the communities they serve. Jonny Stax Presents the acclaimed work of The Scooty & JoJo Show, including their most recent hit, Alien Queen.
About the internship:
Jonny Stax Presents is embarking on two exciting new ventures for which we are accepting interns to help establish. We are also accepting interns for the activities of the company in general. Interns will have the opportunity to develop their own internship program by identifying where their interests intersect with the needs of the company and the projects at hand. Areas of work include: Communications (Public Relations and Marketing), Sales, Fundraising/Development, Production/Project Management, Business Planning/Organizational Management, and Creative/Artistic Development.
• Chicago Lab and Urban Retreat: The company is establishing a new citywide initiative that nurtures the creation of extraordinary art to propel social evolution. The Chicago Lab will provide the facilities, resources, connections, and programs to support arts creators to share ideas, generate new works, and explore the impact their creations could have on the surrounding world. Interns will have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a major arts initiative in Chicago, explore the intersection of arts and community change, observe and evaluate the phases involved in the creation of new artistic works, and help mobilize people and organizations throughout Chicago toward a common purpose.
• Indie choir: Building on the success of The Scooty and JoJo Show’s cult hit Alien Queen, the company is building a choir along with some of Chicago’s highly respected musical talents. This choir’s first performance will be in late spring and focus on the songs of the iconic rock band Queen. The intern will assist in organizing auditions, scheduling rehearsals and performances, preparing music for rehearsals, and helping to identify next steps of growth for the choir. If interested, the intern will have the opportunity to assist in leading rehearsals, including accompanying, teaching parts, and conducting.
• General company: The company has some exciting productions planned for this year as well as managing the projects listed above and working to secure legal rights in order to grow some already created productions. This requires savvy communications, business and organizational management, legal and contractual work, and leveraging successes for future growth. An intern involved in the general functioning of the company can assist in all these areas based upon the intern’s interests and company needs.
