This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
Successful working independent musical ensemble / record label in Brooklyn looking for Interns to start ASAP. We are currently seeking an intern to begin immediately and continue for a minimum of three months. Established in 2003, our ensemble has played hundreds of well paid gigs including many high profile venues throughout the New York area. In 2011 the band released an officialy published EP (Nganga Records) on all the major music retailers including iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.
Position would be part time 2-3 days in the afternoons but flexIble.
INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Phone calls
• Growing and managing our e-mail fanbase
• Sending emails and e-newsletters
• Assisting on special projects
• Scheduling
• Various other needs around the office
• Assist in music publishing
• Liason with ASCAP
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
• A bachelor's degree in Music Business ( or be currently enrolled), Public Relations, Creative Writing or related field.
• Excellent organization, time management, presentation, verbal / written communication skills.
• Experience with online communities and social networking a plus but not a requirement (i.e: Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.)
• Own laptop a plus (Mac a )
Applicant must be intelligent, hard-working, reliable, and easy going. Must follow instructions, be a self-starter, and genuinely be intersted in learning more about the music business, have great communications and organizational skills, be detail oriented and be passionate about the entertainment industry in general.
This internship perfect for college students and/or recent college graduates looking to learn more about the music business and is an amazing opportunity to learn about the way a real live working band operates it day to day tasks. You're likely to learn things even the big labels don't know. You'll be exposed to all aspects of the music business including, band management, booking, social media, legal, administrative, marketing, live performing and much more. If you want to learn everything from merchandise to marketing for recording artists, publishing, video production, and even corporate event planning, this is a position that will set you up for almost any industry job. You'll learn a ton about everything!
We are currently looking for an intern to be available Mondays and Thursdays, from 10am to 6pm.
Additionally, qualified candidates must: be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for the first three months.
