Intern - Public Relations

This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship

Fly PR is an independently-owned music publicity firm that has been in business for over 10 years. We are hired by record labels to handle print media publicity for bands that have new albums coming out and/or are going on tour. We work predominantly with bands who are in the rock genre and sub genres thereof, like punk, garage, indie rock, stoner rock, heavy rock, etc. We have also worked with electronic artists, singer-songwriters and avant-garde artists, and are currently publicizing small business', films and books as well as product lines and will continue to diversify into other areas as well. We tailor press mailings for every campaign we handle based on specific needs. We send press kits to all levels of press: from the smallest of fanzines, to dailies like The LA Times, to regionals like The LA Weekly or CityBeat, to national press like Alternative Press, Revolver and Rolling Stone.

Intern responsibilities include (1) answering phones and handling various office duties, (2) running errands (post office run, picking up mail, shopping at Staples, Kinko’s/copying, etc.) and (3) mailing out artist promos. You will be clipping and pasting up news coverage for our bands as it comes in. We hope that a four-to-six month commitment can be made. Shifts are Tuesday-Thursday, 12pm-3pm. Interns should be able to come in at least once a week.
