The Senior Systems Administrator position is responsible for implementing and maintaining critical infrastructure for Playstation's development teams. A technical generalist, this person will be responsible for both server/storage systems administration, as well as providing help desk support. This person must possess solid leadership skills, excel in customer service and thrive in a fast-paced, cutting edge environment.
Responsibilities
Support internal development teams and subsequent Windows and Linux server environments associated with those teams.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory - GPO, DHCP, DNS, WSUS.
Architect and manage NAS, SAN and iSCSI storage systems.
Knowledge of build and render farms (designing, managing) a plus.
Ability to administer tape backup systems and multi-tier disk backup solutions.
Continually investigate new technologies, including server and desktop hardware.
Create documentation on system configuration, workflow, network diagrams and instructions.
Develop and maintain vendor relationships, including purchase management.
Provide mentorship to other team members.
Establish working relationships with peers at other locations to collaborate on inter-site projects.
Desktop support of Windows and Mac hardware.
Be available for planned maintenance during off hours and weekends.
On call 24x7.
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
Qualifications
PEOPLE: Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, present himself/herself in a professional manner and possess strong work ethic and social etiquette.
PROCESS: Ability to perform root-cause analysis, document system build procedures and process workflow related to end user support and system administration. Ability to identify a need for change, gather requirements and engineer a solution is a must.
TECHNICAL: Bachelor degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience in heterogeneous Windows/Linux server environment. Must understand and communicate system concepts to end users and technical teams; Experienced Linux administration preferably current with RHEL; last 3+ years managing enterprise storage technologies (NAS, SAN, iSCSI); intermediate (3-5 years) with networking; have considerable knowledge of security concepts and industry best practices; scripting knowledge; system monitoring (SNMP-based) a plus; email/messaging experience a plus; RHCE, MCSE, and CCNA or above preferred.
PLANNING/IMPLEMENTATION: Must be able to assess requirements, create and maintain project plans and schedules, and collaborate with technical teams and management.
INDUSTRY: Must have computer implementation, technical support, and on-going maintenance experience in the technology industry or within an IT department. Proven and applied knowledge of IT methodologies and best practices. Prior experience in multimedia or game industry a plus.
