Junior Entertainment Transactional Attorney
Jackoway Austen et al.
Los Angeles, CAThis is a Full Time Job
Founded in 1977, Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner Auerbach Hynick Jaime LeVine Sample & Klein is one of the premier boutique entertainment law firms in the country. Our attorneys work closely together in a supportive and collaborative environment to provide our clients with exceptional legal services.
Attorney Development Program
Our Attorney Development Program offers junior attorneys an entrance opportunity into the entertainment industry with training as an entertainment transactional attorney. You will be paired with a shareholder and associate mentor who will provide feedback, coaching and guidance. You will also be included in meetings and calls to observe and learn the strategic planning and skills that are vital to a successful entertainment law career.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking attorneys who have a strong desire to build a career in entertainment law, specifically representing talent. Ideal candidates will be proactive, detail-oriented and have a thirst for learning, as well as immediately transferable skills obtained from no more than one to two years of work experience. Our ideal candidate possesses superior analytical, writing, and communication skills and a strong academic background. Some transactional experience is helpful (for example, basic drafting competencies and a working knowledge of terms and structures inherent in business and legal transactions), although prior experience in entertainment law is not required.
As you will be exposed to confidential matters, you must possess the professional maturity and ability to handle tasks with the utmost discretion and tact.
The Firm has a strong commitment to hiring lawyers who reflect the diversity of our larger society, and hopes to attract a diverse group of attorney applicants.
The Nitty Gritty
The goal of our Attorney Development Program is to give you the opportunity for placement with other employers in the entertainment industry at the end of your time in the program. The program is intended to last one year, but exact program duration will be dependent on the firm's business needs at the time. Your start date will be in January 2026.
You must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in the State of California.
The salary for this position is $85,000 annually. We offer health benefits, paid parking and paid holidays, and are currently following a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the office and the remaining two days in-office or remote, at your election and subject to the needs of the Firm.
Interested candidates should e-mail a cover letter, resume and law school transcript to Scott Mitchell. Your letter should address the following:
• What drives you to leave your current practice to participate in our Program?
• Is there anything which you feel especially qualifies you for our Program and sets you apart from other candidates?
• Identify any specific skills or experience in drafting, legal writing and/or negotiation.
