Good Caper Content, part of ITV America, focuses on creating and producing impactful true crime and investigative documentaries for linear and streaming platforms. Good Caper is seeking a creative, experienced Senior Director of Development in Los Angeles to help expand its television/OTT content slate.
Based in North Hollywood, and reporting to the Senior Vice President of Good Caper, the role of the Senior Director of Development is to bring in, ideate and develop new ideas; build and manage relationships and partnerships with networks, producing partners and talent; help create pitch materials including decks and sizzles; and to support and manage productions as needed. The job is hybrid in-office and remote.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, creative, and passionate about unscripted television, specifically documentaries and true crime. We're looking for someone with great relationships across the industry, who enjoys brainstorming and ideation, is well-versed in Keynote, InDesign, and Google Suite, and has well-rounded creative sensibilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Oversee and build pitch decks with a premium aesthetic
• Help generate and develop original documentary series and formats
• Write copy and provide creative direction for pitch decks and sizzles
• Create new relationships with producing partners, talent, and their representatives
• Research and source clips for sizzles
• Solicit and review external pitches for development consideration
• Track new shows and market trends
• Join pitch meetings
• Oversee shoots, including writing interview questions and traveling when necessary
• Support other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
• An interest in the unscripted genre including but not limited to true crime, documentaries, formats, and news
• Minimum 7 years of unscripted television and/or digital development experience
• Relationships across the industry including network executives, producers, directors, and representatives
• Highly organized and able to quickly break down and communicate creative concepts
• Ability to exercise a high level of discretion in handling confidential information
• Strong creative writing ability for treatments and pitch materials
• Attention to detail and ability to research and distill large amounts of information
• Strong proficiency in Keynote, InDesign, and PowerPoint to design visual materials
