Regional Director of Engineering - NorthEast US
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the maintenance and technical FCC compliance of a group of television stations. The RDE supervises, manages and supports a group of station engineers to ensure compliance and completion of technical projects at the television studio and transmitter sites.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Able to handle complex system integration among a group of stations with minimum supervision.
•Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations, applicable electrical, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods required.
•Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and basic construction techniques helpful.
•Maintenance and repair of all technical equipment in studio and transmitter facilities/towers, satellite downlink and microwave transmissions systems. RF engineering knowledge a plus.
•Design and construction of new engineering projects as directed by Corp. Engineering and project management.
•Development, preparation, timely submission for approval and implementation of capital budgets/projects.
•Assist Vice President, Engineering in development, preparation and implementation of operating budgets and control of operating expenditures.
•Preparation and timely delivery of required status information and reports.
•Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and handle the tools necessary to repair studio/transmitter equipment.
•Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and general public.
•Must be able to travel to all stations in Region as necessary.
•Must have solid working knowledge of PC’s, networks, routers, MS operating systems and application software such as Word and Excel with Apple computers a plus
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
•Candidates must have 10+ years experience maintaining modern broadcast equipment.
•Must have FCC license with SBE certification a plus.
•Must have strong broadcast maintenance background, organizational, computer and people skills.
•Ability to travel, bend, lift and carry up to a maximum of 70 lbs., climb on step stools, ladders and other necessary equipment.
•Must have a strong management background to oversee many stations.
