Insignia Films is seeking a New York based intern with an interest in film production, documentary development and journalism.
This is a great opportunity for students looking to get practical experience in long-form documentary film development and production. Interns will be involved with project research, production planning, assisting on set on production days, and assisting with post production & archival research, among other areas. We are also open to shaping the internship around your interests.
Previous Insignia Films productions include the landmark PBS series The West and Reporting America at War, as well a four part series for PBS on American Veterans. In addition, we have produced Ailey, Free Money, Red Heaven, Into The Canyon, a four part series on veterans in America, and a documentary on the secret history of Monopoly. We are currently in development on a number of projects, and love to have our interns get a first hand experience on the development process by joining meetings and pitching their ideas.
Interns will assist on a variety of post-production, development, research and administrative tasks. Interns are generally assigned to a specific movie, in which they will develop a particular set of responsibilities. Self-advocacy, attention to detail and diligence are key to a generative internship.
Interns are asked to commit to at least two full days per week. Insignia offers a daily stipend of $20 and course credit where applicable.
Applicants must be current undergraduate and/or graduate students. Recent graduates will, unfortunately, not be considered. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can start in late May 2025.

Following the sold-out TIFF premiere of our latest film Free Money, about the world's largest experiment in Universal Basic Income, IndieWire described it as ''a penetrating and absorbing siren of a movie.''
Led by Stephen Ives, Amanda Pollak and Lauren DeFilippo, Insignia's team has been recognized with Primetime Emmy's and honors from the Directors and Writers Guilds of America for their meticulously crafted, immersive, character-driven narratives - that respect their subjects, captivate their audiences, and never lose sight of the core mission ,to reveal the essential issues and struggles of our time with complexity and compassion.
