Location: San Rafael or Berkeley
Insight Editions is seeking to hire a Publicity & Marketing Specialist with a focus on Entertainment, Gaming, Film, Music and Television to develop and implement publicity and marketing strategies that drive pre-orders and sales of assigned titles. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of direct experience and a proven track record as a book publicist. You have developed strong working relationships with authors, journalists, fansites, bloggers/influencers, and other members of the media. In this role, you will formulate and execute pitches and implement targeted marketing campaigns for authors and their books. This position involves formulating the hook, writing and distributing press releases and pitches, requesting the shipment of review copies, cultivating relationships, securing partners for content reveals, distributing social media content, submitting titles for consideration of awards and reviews, tracking and following up until publicity is secured, and capturing and tracking coverage and communicating to management, in-house stakeholders and partners.
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Marketing and Publicity and will be responsible for launching titles in the assigned portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Develop B2C and B2B marketing and publicity strategies for all assigned new releases and backlist bestsellers.
Develop unique marketing plans that break the mold in the publishing industry. Partner with internal stakeholders and licensors to manage and optimize PR and social marketing activities and build preorders, sell-in and sell-through
Research media outlets and editors/producers for assigned projects and titles. Vet influencers, media, and bloggers for reach and impact. Write pitches and press releases. Set up Press Kits on DropBox and Follow up and secure coverage.
Engage our licensors to help promote our titles and cross-promote with other licensees.
Collaborate with internal partners to create, optimize Title Information Sheets with keyword-rich product descriptions.
Create engaging content on Amazon and InsightEditions.com to drive conversion on assigned titles
Request assets from creative and video production teams for use in publicity, A+ content, and for social media campaigns.
Work with the social media team to create a content calendar
When safe to do so post-COVID, arrange public appearances for authors, such as book signings, trade show and consumer fair and festival appearances.
Qualifications
5+ years of related experience managing publicity at a trade book publisher.
-Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, English, Communications, Business or another relevant field or equivalent experience
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills. An experienced copywriter.
-Superior relationship management skills.
-Interest in pop culture, entertainment, video games and other Adult non fiction categories.
-Familiarity with eBook marketing is a plus.
-Proficient in Google Drive suite, Cision or similar media contact management services.
-Very detail oriented. Ability to multi-task and problem-solve. Can prioritize work and resources across multiple projects. Strong project management skills. Deadline-driven.
-Organized, independent, self-starter who can take ownership of key projects and bring them to completion.
-Proven success and ability in managing a high volume of SKUs and product lines.
-Savvy, knowledgeable, and passionate about PR and social media platforms. Has experience running and tracking social media marketing campaigns.
-Discretion with proprietary and embargoed content.
This is a full-time position with opportunity to work remotely or from our San Rafael or Berkeley offices, once COVID safety issues lessen.
