SUMMARY
The seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Indiana Fever will be accountable for leading and managing the strength and conditioning programs, ensuring all players have the capacity to perform at the highest level. The candidate will design and implement an appropriate program to enhance the long-term athletic development, performance, and health for all Fever athletes, including preparing off-season plans for some players. will provide medical/athletic training services to players and personnel of the WNBA Indiana Fever. This position will successfully uphold all WNBA policies, procedures and bylaws. As the assistant athletic trainer this position also provides critical support for the Indiana Fever Organization in terms of all aspects of healthcare and game day preparations. This position will collaborate heavily with all members of the sports medicine team in order to function successfully and excel as a unit. This position will report directly to the Head of Sports Medicine and will also communicate directly with the Head Team Physician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, implement and review appropriate strength and conditioning and recovery programs for all Fever athletes based on their individual and positional needs
• Design and implement appropriate movement skill sessions to enhance performance
• Be present before/during practices and games to provide assistance and services to athletes
• Conduct pre-training warmup and injury mitigation sessions
• Collaborating with AT/PT staff to collect and analyze sports metric data to monitor athlete performance, load volume, and health management
• Collaborate with AT/PT staff to collect other objective data including strength testing, power, agility, and plyometric ability
• Collect subjective data from athletes regarding RPE for strength/conditioning sessions
• Design individual corrective exercises based on test results and maintain athlete records
• Assist in designing and conducting testing protocol to help ensure long term athletic development and health
• Planning training to enhance periodization for our athletes' needs
• Assist the athletic training/physical therapy staff when needed with carrying out injury mitigation programming and rehabilitation
• Must be available to work non-traditional hours, including but not limited to holidays and weekends as team schedule dictates
• Travel may be required
• Providing evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for athletes
• Providing practice, shoot around, and game day medical coverage to team
• Regularly update and complete medical records in the WNBA EMR
• Communicate athlete illness and injury complaints/problems to Head Athletic Trainer
• Collaborate with head athletic trainer to establish growth and success in our sports medicine department
• Communicate pertinent injury or illness information with coaching staff and sports performance staff
• Adhere to and assist with coordinating COVID-19 protocols and procedures
• Including assisting with coordination of testing, contact tracing, communication with medical team and public health department
• Communicate with sports performance staff and knowledge of strength and conditioning programs, including assisting in coordination of group and individualized injury prevention programming
• Assisting to organize and manage athletic training room
• Provide taping, bracing, and first-aid
• Assist with ordering supplies as needed
• Assist with ongoing communication with sports dietitian for patient care
• Assist with ongoing communication with sports psychologist for patient care
• Aid in court setup for home games
• Aid in notifying athletes of WNBA drug testing program
• Assist in Packing and resupplying for road games
• Aid in Management and execution of emergency action plans including communication, EMS activation, AED/CPR delivery and post-event reporting to Head Team Physician, Head Athletic Trainer
• Assist in performing sport science testing including but not limited to movement pattern analysis, Functional Movement Systems, Y-balance Test, and Landing Error Scoring System, Dynamometry, return to play testing
• Responsible for adhering to all Department and Indiana Fever policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the WNBA
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Master's Degree in Athletic Training or associated field preferred
• ATC In good standing with BOC
• Licensure or ability to obtain licensure in the state of Indiana as an athletic trainer
• Significant experience and skills with rehabilitation and injury mitigation
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Emergency Cardiac Care CPR/AED Certified
• Experience with sports science technology preferred
• Previous experience coaching athletes at a professional, collegiate or academy level preferred
• Knowledge of nutritional requirements for elite athletes
• NSCA CSCS and/or NASM PES or equivalent Certifications
