This is a Full Time Job
Independent Studio Services is the largest prop house in the United States. Based in Los Angeles, we are the premiere one-stop-shop for prop masters and set decorators working in feature films & television providing everything from prop rentals, manufacturing, weapons, graphics, research, product placement, expendables and acquisitions.
Props are a critical part of storytelling and setting a realistic scene. As a part of our acquisition team, you are responsible for sourcing these props. Like Indiana Jones, you are the treasure hunter that combs through the muck to find the gold.
Production can be very intense and chaotic. You have to be ready to jump in the trenches, be able to process and think fast, be adaptable, have an analytical, strategic and investigative sensibility, tactile problem solver, be transparent and communicate clearly and effectively, be capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking all the while being the calm in the storm. The underlying goal is to be successful in attaining the correct product in a timely fashion. Tactical, military and weaponry knowledge are a huge plus.
Job responsibilities:
-Dealing with prop masters, sales, and other department requests in person, via phone and email
-Sourcing requests for assorted working and non-working props from the mundane to the exotic
-Prioritizing orders based on urgency of production needs
-Receives and distributes product packages daily
-Handles billing of resale items to prop masters
-Facilitates day to day receipts and paperwork for accounting department reconciliation
-Manages Excel based PO system
-Supervises day to day driver calendar, petty cash & receipts
-General filing of paperwork
Essential Qualifications:
-A passion for film and television aka a fan of Pop Culture. In order to understand the job, you've got to love that world
-An imagination, sometimes you have to be creative to make things happen
-Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail
-Learning by osmosis is key, awareness at all times
-Enjoy plate spinning because multi-tasking is an understatement in this position
-Ability to prioritize, be a self-starter and not depend on being micro managed
-Ability to work as a part of a team
-Experience in customer service
-Basic accounting
-A teachable spirit, thick skin and a sense of humor
-Ability to work cross-departmentally to support overall company goals
-World class negotiation skills and ability to engage vendors
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
