Job Summary:
Our Imagine Documentaries team is seeking a Director, Production Finance to help build and manage the production finance function and activities for its non-scripted divisions. The Director will partner with cross functional teams to create systems and track details of financial projections and actual spend related to production, including divisional production teams and production accountants, Business Affairs and Corporate Finance. This role will report to the SVP, Non-Scripted Production.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Supervise in-house production accountants and out-of-house production accounting firms assigned to non-scripted projects
- Supervise workflows and ensure both internal & external monthly reporting is both accurate and timely
- Assist with cashflow creation for projects as well as regular cash forecasting for divisions including both externally & internally funded projects
- Maintain accounting procedures manual and standardize across divisions
- Ensure adherence of production accounting policy and procedures, including performing internal audits of project's accounting books
- Work with Production executives to track billbacks & budget for freelancers across multiple projects
- Maintain divisional project finance trackers
- Understand all guild payrolls
- Liaise with outside third-party payroll services
- Attend and participate in weekly staff production meetings
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance to provide (and develop, as needed) schedules and reports for monthly reporting and for budgeting and forecasting purposes
- Assist Corporate Finance in fulfilling requests for the annual external audit
- Manage tax credit application and collection process
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in production finance / accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite
- Familiarity with industry standard budgeting software (Movie Magic)
- Detailed understanding of the non-scripted & documentary budgeting process
- Knowledge of the workflow and procedures involved in production
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial information and to prepare reports in a meaningful format for presentation to senior management
- Adept at anticipating potential issues, identifying problems, recommending and implementing solutions; escalating as needed
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills
- Ability to communicate in a concise and encouraging manner with all levels of Company personnel and outside contacts
- Passionate about the entertainment industry
Skills:
- Comfortable working in a changing environment requiring the creation or improvement of processes
- Self-motivated with a heightened sense of ownership for work
- Team-player who demonstrates professionalism and discretion when dealing with co-workers, studio partners and other third parties
- Excellent written and communication skills
