Finishing Supervisor

This is a Full Time Job

Under general supervision of the Director of Post, the Finishing Supervisor is responsible for completing the necessary Finishing paperwork including work orders, and Finishing emails for each spot as it moves through the finishing pipeline. The Finishing Supervisor will also assist hands on in finishing related tasks as needed. They will ensure all important information is clearly communicated to all necessary parties, and make sure all in-house approvals are being tracked and pushed forward. The AV Finishing Supervisor works closely with Producers, Editors, Music, Clients, and Vendors to ensure a smooth finishing process.

This is a fulltime remote position.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Create and maintain WOs, and Finishing emails for each spot with all necessary info
Coordinate with producers, editors, graphics, clients, and vendors to gather all necessary information and to ensure all deadlines are met
Coordinate with studio contacts and vendors to organize and supply all required preps and deliverables for locked spots / trailers to finishing facility and update progress throughout
Coordinate all in-house mixes, approvals, and notes
In collaboration with the Director of Post, make sure all client/ internal communications are followed up on in a timely manner
Communicate with Assistant Editors to make sure they have all information necessary to properly complete their preps and onlines. Seek answers for any questions that arise
When necessary, hands on finishing work including:
Video & Audio preps
Overcutting updated versions of features and episodes
Uprezing & picture clean up work
Approval outputs
Shot requests
Shot & Dialogue lists
Final Outputs
Review, organize, and manage all specs and make sure all involved parties receive the necessary information
Cover all major functions of the Director of Post when they are out
Work with the Director of Post to QC all outputs and deliverables
Maintain strong quality control and high standards for all deliveries
Maintain Finishes spots lists in collaboration with the Director of Post
Clearly communicate all outstanding tasks, statuses, deadlines, and issues via written overlap at the end of the night for the morning team
Qualifications & Skills
2 year experience with Trailer / TV / Social Finishing
Understanding of the full finishing process from start to completion
Clear communication and organization skills
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Mastery of Adobe Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder
Understanding of frame rates (23.98p, 24p, 25p, 29.97p, 29.97i, 50i, 59.94p), timecode (drop frame, non drop frame), aspect ratios (1.33, 1.78, 1.85, 2.00, 2.39), resolutions (720x486, 1280x720, HD 1920x1080, UHD 3640x2160, 2K, 4K), Video scanning (interlaced vs progressive), and color spaces (rec709 16-235, RGB 0-255)
Basic understanding of audio bit depth (16bit, 24bit), sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz), codecs (AAC, Linear PCM), common track layouts (stereo, 5.1, split), and audio formats (WAV, AIF, mp3, m4a)
Knowledge of digital video codecs including DNxHD, DNxHR, ProRes, h264 and bit rates
Ability to work under high pressure situations with quick turnarounds and take instructions both verbally and in writing
Entry level understanding of video conversion tools (Media Encoder, DaVinci Resolve) and basic understanding of the .mov and .mp4 wrappers
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Google suite
Efficient time management and prioritizing among several simultaneous project deliveries
Understanding of basic editing terms and concepts
Conduct all matters in a professional and courteous manner
