Role Overview
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of physical production, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest production standards. This role requires someone who is proactive, adaptable, and confident managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for multiple projects.
• Liaise with producers, directors, department heads, and external stakeholders to plan and align resources.
• Create and maintain production timelines, shooting schedules, and post-production milestones.
Budgeting & Cost Management
• Prepare and manage production budgets in collaboration with the executive team.
• Track costs, control spending, and reconcile production expenses.
• Manage supplier contracts, invoices, and payroll coordination.
Crew & Resource Management
• Recruit and coordinate with crew members, freelancers, and contractors.
• Oversee onboarding processes, crew logistics, and working conditions.
• Ensure necessary equipment, locations, permits, and insurance are secured.
Production Oversight
• Act as the central point of contact during production and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of shoots.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise on set or in post-production.
• Manage call sheets, production reports, and ensure clear communication across all departments.
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure health & safety protocols are adhered to during all phases of production.
• Maintain legal compliance across employment, contracts, and industry regulations.
• Liaise with unions, guilds, and regulatory bodies when necessary.
Post-Production & Delivery
• Work closely with editors and post teams to coordinate deliverables and workflows.
• Track progress of edits, VFX, sound, and grading, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Assist in the delivery of final masters to distributors or platforms.
Skills & Experience
• Proven experience as a Production Manager or Line Producer across feature films, documentaries, or animation.
• Strong budgeting and scheduling skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in Excel and scheduling software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of film production processes from development through post.
• Experience working with UK production crews and knowledge of local regulations and best practices.
• Comfortable working in a startup-like environment where flexibility and initiative are key.
