General Description:
The Building Engineer will assist in maintaining all aspects of building services and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
• Become dedicated in completion of equipment identification and information lists. Assist with organization and implementation of departmental responsibilities that pertain to equipment/system requirements.
• Assist with development of preventive maintenance procedures required for equipment throughout facility.
• Provide practical input for development and implementation for maintenance of equipment/systems.
• Conduct maintenance and repairs as required on all building equipment/systems.
• Responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of chilled water, hot water, and ice plant systems.
• Will be required to provide daily logs pertaining to operations of all major systems used throughout event and non-event hours.
• Provide support to supervisor and managers for contractor utilization. Should be able to maintain and lead outsourcing of heavy repairs and contracted services.
• Assist with monitoring, control, and periodic testing of all emergency systems.
• Will work rotating shifts to assist with coverage of event and non-event related operations.

Minimum qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks or assignments at the same time.
• Maintenance Electrician's license preferred but not required.
• City of Houston Stationary Engineer's license of 3rd Grade or above required.
• Three- (3) years' experience in operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of central heating and cooling plants is preferred.
• Experience with ice plant systems a plus. Experience with facility cooling automation, startup, and commissioning activities a plus. Previous food service equipment experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to understand and master plant systems and operational parameters.
• Experience with coordination of contractor personnel.
• Experience with HVAC and plant systems and an understanding of design concepts.
• Ability to develop and use Excel or other software to monitor and track plant performance.
• Highly professional ethical standards are required.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic to seek methods to change and /or improve plant environment.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and complete reports.
• Relates well with all kinds of people, uses diplomacy and tact.
• Ability to recognize and solve problems; finds common ground.
• Bottom-line oriented; advocate for company.
Physical & mental requirements:
• The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
• The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
• The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
• The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
