Summary/Objective:
The Astros Golf Foundation, proud host organization of Houston's PGA TOUR event, the Texas Children's Houston Open, is seeking a Tournament Operations Intern to support our team in preparation for this marquee tournament. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting with the planning and execution of the on-site course build, working closely with tournament vendors, and hands-on event support. In addition to the Houston Open, this internship will also involve supporting other high-profile events produced by the Astros Golf Foundation. The selected individual must be professional and able to manage a significant volume of confidential information with discretion.
This candidate will work directly with the Operations Manager and Operations Coordinator. This internship also includes the opportunity to work closely with tournament vendors and with other Texas Children's Houston Open departments, such as Volunteers, Ticketing, Sponsorship, Finance and Retail.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Assist and support the tournament staff with tasks including, but not limited to:
• Assist with the planning and execution of on-site operations.
• Provide support to strategic site-build plan and vendor timelines.
• Assist tournament partners and vendors with on-site activations during tournament week.
• Act as a secondary point of contact for vendors.
• Compile inventory of storage equipment & tournament assets
• Manage the childcare set up with the PGA Tour at the off-site location.
• Aid in miscellaneous operational duties required on-course and in the tournament office.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience & Skills:
• At least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled in a related field (Sports Management, PGA Management, Hospitality, Business Management) between January & May
• Reside or willing to relocate to/near the Houston, Texas area from January 5-May 15, 2026, at your own expense.
• Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to Memorial Park Golf Course office and to offsite locations.
• Must have a desire to gain experience in a professional sports and entertainment environment.
• Have strong interpersonal skills that complement a proactive, solution driven, team-oriented work ethic.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
• Comfortable making phone calls and meeting with clients/vendors/volunteers
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) and internet software
• Ability to maintain discretion concerning confidential information.
• Knowledge of golf and golf events is not a requirement but a plus.
Work Environment
This job will operate in both an office and golf course setting. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the golf course environment. This role can require physical work and will sometimes require work in the elements (wind, rain, warm, cold, etc.). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a paid internship.
Typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interns are required to be onsite during the week of the Texas Children's Houston Open, as well as for all other events produced by the Astros Golf Foundation throughout the period of their internship.
Travel:
This position does not require travel.
