Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Summary/Objective:
The Houston Astros are currently seeking an International Scouting Analyst to support day-to-day player evaluation efforts in the International Scouting department. This position will synthesize all available player evaluation information to provide comprehensive evaluations of international amateur prospects. Additionally, the International Scouting Analyst will collaborate with the Senior Director, Player Evaluation to conduct research and build ad hoc player evaluation tools according to departmental needs. The position will also work closely with the R&D department to improve objective player evaluation outputs to drive data-driven decision-making processes. This position will be based in Houston, TX.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Produce in-depth written and verbal player assessments of international amateur prospects in a timely manner by synthesizing all available player evaluation data & information.
• Conduct ad-hoc research projects and build digital tools to support needs of International Scouting department.
• Coordinate with various departments (International Scouting, Amateur Scouting, Player Development, R&D) to identify new methods of player evaluation that can be implemented in the international market.
• Collaborate with R&D department to improve systematic player evaluation outputs to support decision-making processes in the international amateur market.
• Crosscheck international scouting events on an as-needed basis.
• Contribute to amateur and pro scouting efforts as assigned.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education
and/or Experience and Skills:
• 2 years’ work experience sought from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to sports, finance, development, academia, consulting or similar fields.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Proficiency with SQL and SQL databases is required.
• Proficiency with R is preferred.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel is required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Strong baseball knowledge is required.
Work Environment
The work will largely be performed in an indoor office setting with periodic travel to attend scouting events located at sports venues (indoor or outdoor- hot/cold environment) that could be heavily crowded with high activity.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision.
The employee for this position must have the ability to drive a vehicle.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that will require a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Travel
This position requires periodic international travel throughout the year.
