Summary/Objective:
The Houston Astros are seeking a part-time Baseball Programs Supervisor to assist the AYA Director and Coordinator. This role involves managing Astros Youth Academy participants, coordinating college coaches' workouts, and building recruitment relationships with college coaches. The supervisor will monitor instructors to ensure consistent teaching of baseball fundamentals, teach and motivate youth, evaluate their skills, and provide constructive feedback. Additionally, they will lead team selection and deliver quality instruction during scheduled events.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing Astros Youth Academy Baseball participants in the LeagueApps database.
• Help in coordinating baseball college coaches and scout workouts throughout the year.
• Assist in building, creating, and maintaining relationships with baseball college coaches for recruitment purposes.
• Assist in opening, closing and securing the Astros Youth Academy to prepare for activities.
• Monitor all baseball and softball instructors at the Academy to ensure consistent teaching of defensive fundamentals across all levels. This includes fielding, hitting, pitching, base running, and other essential drills, all aligned with professional program standards.
• Teach, coach, and instruct baseball skills with the ability to effectively demonstrate baseball techniques.
• Motivate youth of all ages, evaluate their baseball skills and provide constructive feedback for improvement for the Astros Nike RBI Baseball programs during the Spring, Fall and Summer.
• Lead and select players for the appropriate placement on Youth Academy teams: Astros Nike RBI Baseball Regional Team, Commissioner's Cup Team, AYA Baseball Scout Team and others.
• Provide positive and quality baseball instruction during scheduled events at the Astros Youth Academy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience & Skills:
• Experience as a professional player, a college player, or as a coach at the college or high school level, with a background in coaching or playing at a competitive level.
• Strong leadership skills, excellent verbal and interpersonal communication abilities, and proficiency in teaching and demonstrating skills.
• Solid organizational and scheduling skills, with the ability to effectively plan baseball practices.
• Basic computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Proficiency in instructing all facets of baseball and softball.
• Strong ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment.
• Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather conditions.
Preferred
• First Aid and CPR certification.
Work Environment
This job operates in both a clerical, office setting and an outdoor stadium setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud. The employee will be expected to work both indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather patterns (extreme heat or cold, rain, etc.). Stadium noise could range from low to extreme.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to regularly work on your feet for long hours. The Position requires ability to walk long distances and stand up 4 to 5 hours without a break. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including; extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Travel:
Rare travel is expected for this position.
